Lee Coulter is a founding member of Ray Long and The Highway 61 Band and our bass player extraordinaire. Providing the band with strong, steady, smooth as silk bass riffs, he played with us from 2012 until 2018, when left for a while to pursue other projects.

During that time, he started an open mic project called “The Experience” involving most of the musicians in the Elmwood/Brimfield area.

He also played bass for The Heather Green Band, Working Class Rejects and then happily came back for Ray Long and The Highway 61 Band’s revival.

He has 16 years experience playing live music, and it really shows when you see him play some of the best bass you’ll hear and make it look like it’s easy! Like Lee says, time flies when you’re having fun! 

James and Becky McDaniel were both added as official members of Ray Long and The Highway 61 Band in 2024 after nearly 13 years of being fans of the band and occasional stage guests at Ray’s shows.

Becky has been singing and performing since the ripe age of 9 years old. While not classically or formally trained, her powerhouse voice has helped her win numerous talent contests and led her to be the front woman in several bands, including The Party Naked Band out of Pontiac, IL. Her vocal style blends smooth but powerful melodies with a rough, gritty edge that makes her voice stand out in our local music scene.

While she grew up sitting on the porch, pickin’ and grinnin’ to gospel and bluegrass songs with her dad and his entire extended family, eventually Becky started taking additional inspiration from legendary female vocalists like Janis Joplin. Without any other real musical talents beyond singing though, she decided that marketing and band management would be a great niche for her to squeeze her way into. In 2016, she graduated from Full Sail University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Business and has since been using those skills to push her own music career, as well as the careers of many other musicians forward, some of whom have gone on to be signed by major labels!

One of those careers she has been working hard to push forward belongs to her husband James, who joined Ray Long and the Highway 61 Band as the rhythm guitarist shortly after she was asked to join them. While he has never been in a band before, he has been playing guitar for over 20 years. When Becky started being a regular at shows, James was there to support them at every single one. He carried equipment, he helped sell merch, he passed out business cards. If he could help with anything band related, he was there to do it. That’s why when Ray found out James could play guitar, it was a natural choice to add him to the band. He has been a strong and steady presence for everyone, and we are so proud to introduce you all to him!

Combining Becky’s unique sound and James’ steady rhythm guitar with Ray’s masterful blues guitar riffs has proven to be a recipe for success, and the entire band is very excited to share our new music with everyone.

Butch Carroll began playing drums in grade school and has built a career spanning country, rock, blues, and gospel. By age 14, he was performing with weekend country bands, later moving to Florida at 17 to join the professional show band 5th Avenue.

At 19, Butch traveled to Nashville to record a country gospel album with Pete Chaneli and The Nelson Sisters, then toured throughout the Southeast with Max Headroom and other acts, sharing stages with legends including Joey Dee and the Starlighters, Dion and the Belmonts, and Frankie Valli.

In 1996, he joined the King Snake Records–signed blues band Inner City Soul before returning to the Peoria area in 1999, where he quickly became a go-to drummer in the local blues scene. He has performed with countless regional and national artists, performed with acts such as Albert Castiglia and Watermelon Slim, worked as a session drummer at Hybrid Studios and Big White House Studios, and opened for artists including Johnny Winter, Little Feat, Savoy Brown, and Dave Mason.

A lifelong student of the craft, Butch is known for his versatility, feel, and deep musical roots. We’re proud to welcome him as the drummer for Ray Long and the Highway 61 Band.

Lindsay Camp is a powerhouse vocalist and keyboardist with a lifelong passion for performance. Classically trained with a degree in music from Northern Arizona University, she began touring with vocal groups at age 14 and has since performed across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe—bringing both Broadway flair and operatic strength to the stage.

After moving from Peoria, Arizona to Peoria, Illinois in 2012, Lindsay quickly became involved in the local music scene. In 2015, she and her now husband, Chad Camp founded Linzie Borden, a high-energy rock project that has enjoyed bringing a variety of hard-hitting music to audiences ever since. She’s especially excited to bring her signature sound on keys and background vocals to the mix with Ray Long and the Highway 61 Band.

Lindsay is also an active supporter of Peoria’s music community. From promoting local events to helping organize festivals, co-hosting The Jam Sessions in Thunder Valley, and co-creating Lindsay’s Live and Loud Christmas Special—now heading into its fifth year— she’s all about lifting up the incredible talent in the area.
